Coulon-Duffy Methode: The Enchanted Fife !           See film !

This Repertoire contains traditional music pieces preceded by short exercises to help resolve technical and rhythmic difficulties.

The first pieces are very easy and intended for beginners. The pieces are arranged in order of increasing difficulty. The second voices can also be played by students. Nos. 34 and 38 are written for a fife and three flutes.

This repertoire uses only fife fingerings similar to those of the great flute. Only the F# fingering and the middle and high C fingerings with the thumb closed are different, but subsequent adaptation to the fingerings of the large flute has never posed any problems for the students. The fingerings are suitable for both traditional and oulon-Duffy fifes (with and without keys). On the latter, you can also play C by opening or closing the thumb (see fingerings). I leave it up to the teachers to devise their own methodology and encourage the creativity of beginning musicians.
